Upon completion of this course the student should have a basic understanding of the political, social, and economic development of Arkansas from the era of exploration and early statehood to present. The course will also include Arkansas’ role in the Civil War and Reconstruction, as well as her role in segregation and civil rights. In addition, the course will introduce the student to some famous and infamous Arkansans.

This course offers a survey of the cultural, economic, political, and social forces that have shaped the U.S. from the end of Reconstruction to the present. This course requires at least one paper using a documentation format.
